Will I understand the message even if I don't know much about the Bible?
Our messages are prepared to connect with people's lives by using the ageless wisdom of Scripture and presenting it in a creative, yet straight-forward way. The services are designed to be easily understood by individuals checking out what it really means to have a personal relationship with Jesus as well as those who have been committed Christ-followers for many years. We hope you'll find our services to be very helpful in your personal spiritual growth.
What if I come from a different faith background?
While Journey is associated with the Assemblies of God, its denominational affiliation, people who attend come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds - Catholic, Lutheran, etc. Together, we focus on biblical truth and teachings, and pursuing an active relationship with Jesus Christ. You don't have to be a member of a specific religious denomination to do that.
Do I have to dress up?
Nope. At Journey, you'll see lots of people in jeans and khakis and not so many in suits and dresses. You're welcome to dress casually and come as you are.
How do people at Journey express worship?
"Worship" involves communication with God from our hearts. We believe in a variety of different expressions in worshiping God. On the stage, you might see worship leaders clapping or raising their hands while they sing and the musicians playing various instruments. You are welcome to worship God in a way you feel expresses your heart toward Him. For some, that's quietly reflecting on the words and, for others, that's clapping and singing out.
Movie clips, drama and videos - in church?
Often it's helpful during a message to illustrate real life situations through a movie clip, dramatic sketch or other creative ways. Sometimes these outlets may not be from "Christian" resources, but we often find great insights into the human condition from them. We screen words and subject content closely for use in our church services.
Is there something for the kids?
Journey has wonderful ministries for your entire family. While parents are peacefully enjoying the service, kids can have fun and learn about God at their level.
Are you going to hit me up for money?
If you are new to Journey, please don't feel any pressure to give. People will never be pressured to give money here, but regular attenders and members are encouraged to invest in the work of the ministry at Journey by generously sharing from their God-given resources. The offerings which we receive during our services support the many ministries of our church.
What if I'm not even sure I believe in God?
If you haven't made a decision to follow Christ, but would like to know more about it, you're a seeker - and that's a good thing! That means you're asking questions about spiritual things and how they might relate to your life. We want to welcome you to explore answers to your questions here.
How do I get involved?
Attending on Sundays is a great start, but we hope you'll move beyond being just part of our weekend crowd. You can further your faith, meet people and learn more about life as a Christ-follower by attending Expedition 101, Newcomer's Luncheon, a small group or Mid-Week Connection on Wednesdays.
